We are intending to host this at the club on Tuesday December 8th (7:30pm). The club is expecting that current restrictions will be lifted in time for the AGM to take place as advertised. Any amendment to this plan will be communicated to club members via email and a Facebook post prior to the meeting.
We look forward to (hopefully) seeing you on December 8th.
SGKC Secretary
To the Australian Karting Community,
Some days are challenging, some frustrating, some disappointing and some just make you angry. Unfortunately, yesterday was a day that was a rollercoaster of all of them put together. In my time as President of the club, nearly six years, it was the most difficult day that I can remember.
I would like to take the time to thank a few people, or maybe quite a few.
Firstly, to the Club Executive and General Committee, thank you for your continued efforts throughout this year and especially the large efforts in organising the SA Kart Championship. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
To the club volunteers who have been spending a significant amount of their own time at the club on the various maintenance and construction projects throughout the year, and previous years, thank you! I will not mention everyone as it is a very long list. Your efforts have transformed what were some rapidly ageing facilities into a much more functional and presentable facility. There is more to go, but I am confident with the drive and commitment of the current group of people we have, the vision for the club will become a reality in the very near future.
To the state and national level official’s, thank you for your continued support of the club and the competitors. Without you giving your time we cannot host race meetings. We look forward to continuing working with you to run successful race meetings in the future.
To the competitors, local and interstate, thank you for your support of the club. This weekend would have been the largest race meeting at the club for several years. We had entries from every state except Tasmania; we thank those people who entered from interstate and committed to travel and support our sport and the club. We also thank the local competitors for their continued support.
To Karting Australia, to have a national body that is willing to help in the planning of these events and then assist in assessing extremely difficult situations, make appropriate decisions and then support and back those decisions make the club’s job much easier. Special thanks to Lee Hanatschek for taking, and making, far too many phone calls.
Lastly, a few special mentions,
Steve Nicolson
Ian Watson
Danny Miller
The amount of time, effort and coordination spent by these three guys at the club over the last few months is over and above what anyone would expect. Quite simply, the club would not be in the position we are in without each one of you. Thank you just does not say enough, as I am sure all club members will attest to.
With the continued support of the greater karting community the club is now looking forward to running successful local and national level events in the future. We look forward to welcoming karters from all over the country, especially those that were able to show support for our event that was planned for this weekend.
Thanks,
Brett Fortanier
